The Ross SKEATE Story

From Rugby to Coffee

Rugby career

Ross SKEATE, young father of a 4-year-old girl and engaged to Jeanny Busquet, was born in South Africa in Johannesburg where he will begin a magnificent career in rugby union where he will play as a second row.

In the under-19s, he played in the World Cup in Chile in the South African team in 2001. On his return to South Africa he returned to his club: Western Province where he was selected around fifty times as well as for the Stormers. In June 2007, he won the Nations Cup with the Emerging Springboks, reserve of the South African National team.

In specialty coffee

It was in 2008 and 2010 that Ross joined the Barbarians team in England. Then from 2008 to 2010 he flew to France and played in the RC Toulon team and left for South Africa in Durban in the Sharks team to play in the Currie Cup final. Back in France he signed with SU Agen from 2012 to 2014 and FC Grenoble for the 2014-2015 season. He will end his career at Provence rugby the following season.

After an intense career, the retirement was well deserved. He will leave to cross Costa Rica, his country of heart dear to him and his wife. He decides to train for his second passion, specialty coffee as a roaster and barista. In 2019, he opened his Coffee Truck and his roasting workshop in Douvaine in Haute-Savoie.
